Two of the youngest fighters on the UFC roster put on dominant performances on Saturday at UFC on Fox 15, with Max Holloway and Paige VanZant destroying Cub Swanson and Felice Herrig, respectively.
The 23-year-old Holloway picked apart Swanson for the better part of three rounds, hitting him with combinations consistently and doing quite a bit of damage. In the third, Holloway hurt Swanson to the body on a few occasions, then wrenched a nasty guillotine to bring it to the ground. He had it in the mount, and though Swanson tried to fight out of it, he was ultimately forced to tap with just over a minute left in the fight.
For Swanson, he's lost two fights in a row for the first time, and they've both come in one-sided beatdowns with late submissions. Holloway, meanwhile, moves his winning streak to six since a 2013 loss to Conor McGregor.
VanZant, 21, controlled Herrig for three rounds after dealing with a ton of trash talk into the event. Herrig said beforehand that she wanted VanZant to prove her wrong, and that's just what happened as she got outstruck by a very significant margin. She also spent most of the fight on her back getting punched in the face, ultimately giving VanZant a decision win with two scores of 30-26.
