"[Aldo's] team is f***ing up. Because let me tell you something: if I had Conor fighting somebody like that, and they were going to make sure one of the guys gets up in your face, you smack his ass to the floor. You know what I'm saying? You don't let somebody do that. Or just laugh at him. Like, [Aldo] got all bent out of shape when the guy took his belt. He should've just laughed at him, been like, 'Keep the belt. This ain't about the belt. It's about your ass whooping.' I would've let him have it. Take that home and put it on. But hey, Conor McGregor, he's doing his thing. He's doing a good job of that and I'm not hating on him. I think he's doing a great job marketing himself. Everybody's forgotten who the champ is already because it's the McGregor show."
-During his appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Nate Diaz gave his thoughts on the Jose Aldo-Conor McGregor encounters and what he'd have done in that situation.
Penick's Analysis: Everyone's got different approaches to things, and given what we've seen from the Diaz brothers in the past it's certainly not surprising that Diaz would have this take on it. Of course, there are consequences to actually taking physical action outside of the cage, limited as they may be, and the UFC tries to avoid that when they can. And for as intense as the belt-grabbing moment was - and for how much it will add to the promotion of the fight - I don't think it made Aldo look lesser for not doing anything more than he did. Regardless, what matters for Aldo is what happens in that cage on July 11.
