An intriguing welterweight bout is headed to UFC 189 this July, as MMAOddsbreaker.com reports that Brandon Thatch will take on Jordan Mein on the card in Las Vegas.
The fight was actually supposed to take place at UFC Fight Night 49 last August, with Thatch stepping in as a replacement for Thiago Alves. Unfortunately, Thatch himself suffered an injury as well, and the two went different paths.
Thatch eventually returned at UFC Fight Night 60 in February, but was defeated by former UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson in their short notice main event. That was just the second loss of his professional career, halting a ten-fight winning streak.
Mein wound up fighting Mike Pyle on the August card last year, defeating him in the first round. However, he too needs to rebound from a stoppage loss, as he was knocked out by Alves when that fight was re-booked in January at UFC 183.
UFC 189 hits Las Vegas on Thatch's 30th birthday on July 11, headlined by the Featherweight Championship bout between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor.
