An intriguing featherweight matchup between Dennis Bermudez and Jeremy Stephens is set for UFC 189 this July, the UFC announced on Monday.
Bermudez, who entered the UFC as the runner-up in the 14th season of The Ultimate Fighter, was closing in on title contention last year when he ran into a roadblock in Ricardo Lamas. He was submitted in the first round of that fight, a loss that snapped a seven fight winning streak in the division.
As for Stephens, the former lightweight and longtime UFC competitor has lost two straight fights after a three fight winning streak to begin his featherweight run. His two losses in the division came against Cub Swanson and Charles Oliveira in succession last year.
UFC 189 hits pay-per-view live on July 11 from Las Vegas, Nevada, headlined by the Featherweight Championship bout between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor.
