A major light heavyweight fight could be headed to the main event of UFC Fight Night 69 in Berlin, Germany, as Sweden's Kimura.se reports that Alexander Gustafsson will take on Glover Teixeira.
The two former Light Heavyweight Title contenders need big wins to bounce back from significant setbacks in recent outings.
Gustafsson, who was a win away from getting a rematch with Champ Jon Jones, instead got knocked out by Anthony Johnson in January. Teixeira, meanwhile, followed up his own loss to Jones last year with a bad performance against Phil Davis, losing consecutive fights for the first time in his career.
UFC Fight Night 69 is expected to be a UFC Fight Pass exclusive event, and will emanate from Berlin's O2 Arena on June 20.
Penick's Analysis: This would be one hell of a headliner for a Fight Pass event. Considering both fighters got knocked back down the ladder considerably by their respective last losses, it's fine to have them on Fight Pass. It's a much bigger Fight Pass headliner than next week's Mirko Cro Cop-Gabriel Gonzaga bout in Poland, and the fans in Germany will probably appreciate that. Regardless, it's a big chance for one of these guys to move back into the potential mix at 205 lbs.
UPDATE: The bout has been officially confirmed by the UFC as the five round headliner for the card.
