Despite a report last weekend that Anderson Silva was going to admit to using PEDs in recovery when he appears before the Nevada Athletic Commission, he's sticking with his denials at the moment, and is calling for a rematch with Nick Diaz when all is cleared with the commission.
In a video interview with TMZ Sports, Silva once again said he doesn't know why he failed any drug tests beofre UFC 183, and says he's still looking into all the supplements he took prior to the event.
"I don't know what happened," Silva said. "... I don't think [I took anything I wasn't supposed to take]. I need to check for all supplements I used because I never failed for the commission in this sport.
"... I go to work together with the commission because I think this is bad for the sport," he continued. "It's bad, it's so bad for me, and my life. Because I never used [anything to] change my performance in a fight. I'll go to my doctor, and the doctor of the commission to test for all supplements. When the commission [says I'm] done, I'll go back to fight, and I'll go talk to my fans. Yeah, I think [you'll see me back in the cage in] the next year."
"I think have the rematch [with Nick Diaz]. I'm ready. I expect the commission now, when all this is done, I go fight Nick for the next one."
Penick's Analysis: And the saga continues. His team will have to have much more of a compelling case, and will have to prove that a legally purchased supplement contained something off the label that caused him to test positive. It's a very, very long shot argument, but it appears that's still where Silva's head is at. Now, if his team is thinking something else, and they're trying to craft a different argument - as last weekend's reports suggested - then he's throwing that off a bit by commenting publicly like this. Regardless, we'll see what he has to say whenever he's brought before the commission for his disciplinary hearing.
