After 14-years as the UFC's ubiquitous "babysitter to the stars," Burt Watson is stepping down from the organization.
Watson confirmed the news on Tuesday morning, following reports on Monday from @FrontRowBrian on Twitter regarding an alleged incident and falling out with UFC brass over the weekend at UFC 184. While full details have not emerged, Watson posted the following on Twitter this morning:
After 14 AMAZING YEARS I've decided to step aside thank U Dana White Lorenzo Fertitta & Donna Marcolini pic.twitter.com/8eL04mVGaW
Penick's Analysis: Though FRB reported that there may have been some argument between Watson and UFC brass this weekend that led to him quitting, again no details have been confirmed. He's been a huge part of keeping the UFC's fight week running smoothly, from making sure fighters are on track to make weight, coordinating transportation to and from hotels, arenas, airports, etc., and keeping fight night moving as well. He's certainly going to be hard to replace.
