Mark Hunt returns to action this May in Australia, six months after his loss to Fabricio Werdum on short notice for the Interim UFC Heavyweight Championship.

Opening up about that loss this week, Hunt admitted that the altitude in Mexico City for UFC 180 and the short notice nature of the bout took their toll, but he said his own mistakes led to Werdum's second round stoppage win.

"Yeah, it was pretty exhausting," Hunt said in an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. "It was one of the those things, I don't realize it when I fight that quickly. It's what happens. I lost the fight. That's what happens."

"I got caught. I made a mistake and got caught. I was trying to steal cookies out of [Werdum's] jar. It ended up a highlight reel, so you can't make those mistakes... I can't use anything as an excuse. I got caught trying to steal Werdum's freakin' cookie jar. I got caught. I made a mistake and got caught and got knocked out, and that's what happens."

Penick's Analysis: It was a really long odds situation for Hunt back in November, and it was extremely unlikely at the time that he'd have been able to pull off a victory. Even with a full camp, Hunt just isn't as good as Werdum, and with everything else that played into that matchup in Mexico City, the result ultimately wasn't surprising. He's going to try to rebound here in Australia, but it's highly possible he's not going to get another title fight in the division ever again.
