"I'm getting a taste for [trash talking]. We have to be provocative to sell fights, talk more, to know we'll be more profitable. It's important. The financial side is great for me, for the UFC, and for him. But, if you talk about rankings, I think he's undeserving. But, the rankings serve no f***ing purpose, nobody f***ing respects it, so this fight is good for me because of the money."
-Jose Aldo talks to Combate in Brazil about his fight with Conor McGregor and why he doesn't care whether or not McGregor has earned the shot from a ranking standpoint.
Penick's Analysis: Aldo's had plenty of fights against opponents who had earned their place in the rankings, but he's never had an opponent who can really help him draw until now. This will be his biggest payday by far, he recognizes that, and he's wholly embracing that. It's good for him, and it's good for the UFC at this point.
