More than five years after last appearing in the Octagon, Phillipe Nover is getting a chance to return when the UFC comes to Manila in the Philippines this May.
Nover revealed his return on Twitter, while ABS-CBN Sports reported - citing confirmation from the UFC - that Nover will take on Yui Chul Nam in a featherweight fight.
The Filipino-American Nover entered the UFC with an over-heaping of praise from UFC President Dana White out of The Ultimate Fighter's eighth season, and he proceeded to lose three straight fights from December 2008 to February 2010.
Since his release, Nover's gone 5-2, winning three straight into his UFC return. His losses in that stretch came to Marcin Held in Bellator, and to current UFC lightweight Tony Martin in a fight in North Dakota.
He'll now drop to featherweight for the first time to fight Nam, the 33-year-old South Korean who made a successful UFC debut last March but hasn't fought since. He's 8-2 in his last ten fights, which includes a five-fight winning streak into this event.
The UFC's Philippines debut will air live on Fox Sports 1 on May 16, headlined by a featherweight bout between Urijah Faber and Frankie Edgar.
