The lead up to UFC 183 has featured relatively little in the way of sound bytes from Nick Diaz, but there's a reason for that.
In a brief clip for UFC.com into the event, Diaz explained why he just hasn't had a need to say much to or about Anderson Silva.
"He does martial arts. He's a black belt. I do martial arts. I'm a black belt. I respect that," Diaz said. "He obviously respects that. There ain't no 'b****es,' ain't no 'f***' yous' to be [said], especially right off. That would be way out of line and I'm not trying to come of like that."
"I've just had a lot of experience when it comes to karate and stand up and boxing, versus a lot of MMA guys who got into the sport late. That's why Anderson Silva, he's important, and that's why important now, because people, they want to see action. They know who's going to bring that action to the table; they know who's going to bring the real fights."
Penick's Analysis: This is one of the reasons Diaz had sought this fight out, because he's got great respect for Silva and his history in the UFC. There's no reason for them to trade barbs because it's not one of those grudge match level fights. Sure, it's been in Diaz's wheelhouse, but it's not a necessity, especially if it's not bringing anything extra to the table.
