Dustin Poirier's four-year run in the featherweight division is coming to an end, as the 25-year-old announced on Thursday that he's heading back to the lightweight division.

Poirier makes the move after an 8-3 run in the UFC's 145 lb. field, most recently losing to Conor McGregor in the first round at UFC 178.
Penick's Analysis: It's not as if Poirier's been huge at 145 lb., but those weight cuts take their toll on fighters after a while. Getting to 155 lbs. will certainly be easier for him, but will it mean a successful run? The lightweight division is hugely competitive, with strong wrestlers and extremely talented strikers. That's a really tough division to have success in, and he'll be a bit smaller when he comes up. That said, he's still got a lot of talent, and that on its own could carry him through some fights as he gets better and climbs up the ladder.
