At the start of Saturday's UFC on Fox 13 broadcast, the UFC aired a snippet from Nate Diaz's pre-fight interview, showing him walking out of the interview as a way to bury him further after him speaking out and missing weight during the week.
Here's the clip they showed:
Of course, that's just a small piece of what would have been a lengthier interview, and Diaz himself had something to say about it in the comments on Youtube:
Remember how FOX showed Nate Diaz walking out of his interview to make him look bad? This is from his youtube... pic.twitter.com/rzjyfJR0nw
"[They] asked me the same question 20 times trying to get me to talk shit and I wouldn't so I left and they make me look like an asshole. [And] beating #3 doesn't help I did that 2 other times same outcome everytime no money... [Why] play along when it doesn't [benefit you] to, and why act like a [high paid] professional athlete when treated like a benched semi pro?"
Penick's Analysis: The UFC absolutely went into petty mode by airing that segment, especially if it came in the way Diaz describes here. As for his other comments, I can see why he would feel and react that way given the way the year's gone with the UFC, and in some ways he's absolutely right to feel that way. At the same time, he's done himself no favors at any stage. Both sides are culpable in things getting to where they are now, and it's why it seems them parting ways can only be the best thing for all at this point.
