Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto was discussed as a potential opponent for Urijah Faber in Japan in September, only for injury to further delay his return. Now, he's set to get back in the cage for the first time since 2012 at UFC 184 this February.
The UFC announced this week that he'll take on Roman Salazar on the card, which takes place from Los Angeles on Feb. 28.
Yamamoto, 37, has lost five of his last six fights dating back to 2009, including all three of his appearances in the UFC cage. He most recently lost to Vaughan Lee by submission in February of 2012.
He's returning against the 26-year-old Salazar, who lost his UFC debut in October. His submission loss to Mitch Gagnon snapped a four-fight winning streak, though he's won eight of his last ten overall.
UFC 184 hits pay-per-view this February, with a headlining bout between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort for the UFC Middleweight Championship.
