Saturday's UFC Fight Night 57 event may have been up against some stiff competition, but it drew some very solid numbers to Fox Sports 1.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer at MMAFighting.com, the Frankie Edgar vs. Cub Swanson headlined event drew an average of 903,000 viewers, peaking with just over one million viewers during the night's main event.
The show drew over 200,000 more viewers than the last UFC Fight Night event on Nov. 8, and nearly 300,000 more than the prelims for the previous weekend's UFC 180 prelims.
Penick's Analysis: Considering how the UFC has been consistently hitting in the 600-700K range for much of the year, getting near a million viewers on average has to be seen as a positive. It's not as many people who tuned in for Bellator the previous week, of course, and the UFC still has to do a better job of making people even aware of the events, let alone care enough to watch, but for 2014, this is a very solid number, and positive given the Pacquiao-Algieri fight was on pay-per-view, with some other big college football fights garnering significant numbers as well.
