"How the f*** does he know? Who knows, maybe I have a harder time making weight than old Georges does. The fact of the matter is you don't know what the f*** you're talking about until you're actually the guy in the driver's seat. So you can f***in' run your mouth, or you know, you can be the ball and do what you got to do. But I don't know, I don't go ahead and give my opinion on what I think fighters should've done or would've done, because I'm not them. You don't know what's what, you don't know all the details of what's what. But if he's going to have things to say, just say what he wants to say."
-In an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Nick Diaz responds to Georges St-Pierre saying he "made a mistake" in taking Anderson Silva fight at 185 lbs (transcription via BloodyElbow.com).
Penick's Analysis: To be fair, St-Pierre wasn't criticizing Diaz's abilities in the least, and indeed praised his boxing game. The point he was making was that he felt Diaz made a mistake in giving up the size edge to Silva without trying to make it a catchweight. Regardless, Diaz makes a solid point that he feels he knows what works for him, and it's not on St-Pierre or anyone else to tell him otherwise. He wanted to fight Anderson Silva, and clearly didn't care where, when, or at what weight he needed to be at in order to make that fight happen.
