"I tell people the number one thing about being a fighter, especially if you're on a good winning streak, you get complacent. If you're supposed to work on 10 things, you end up just doing two or three of them. That happened to me. [The loss to Ryan Bader] was a good learning experience. I know what to expect now. I know I can stay in there with the best of them.
The opportunity in itself to fight him is a blessing. Just to fight a legend, and by beating a legend, you could end up becoming one... 'Shogun' has been in the game since before I ever thought anything about fighting. [Getting the fight] was unexpected, but it's good news."
-Ovince St. Preux talks to FoxSports.com about his August loss to Ryan Bader, and his late notice headlining fight with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua next week on Fox Sports 1.
Penick's Analysis: St. Preux's got a huge opportunity on short notice in a fight that's actually a better stylistic matchup for him than Bader was. He's not going to get out-wrestled in this one for 15 minutes, he'll just have to avoid the superior striking game of the former UFC Champion. It's a big opportunity, especially on short notice, because Shogun hasn't been preparing for him specifically.
