The Jan. 18 UFC Fight Night in Boston has a new co-main event, as Benson Henderson will take on Eddie Alvarez.
The fight takes that slot after the UFC shifted the just-announced Donald Cerrone vs. Myles Jury bout to UFC 182 this evening.
Henderson, who held the UFC Lightweight Title until a submission loss to Anthony Pettis last summer, returned to action earlier this year, and picked up wins over Josh Thomson and Rustam Khabilov before getting shockingly knocked out by Rafael dos Anjos in August.
Alvarez, who vacated the Bellator Lightweight Title to sign with the UFC that same month, was defeated by Cerrone by decision in his debut at UFC 178 last month.
Both will try to get back on track in a three round fight under the Conor McGregor vs. Dennis Siver bout on Fox Sports 1.
The UFC added two more fights to the card tonight as well, as lightweights Jorge Masvidal and Norman Parke square off, with middleweights Uriah Hall and Costas Philippou meeting in a rematch of a fight that took place before both were in the UFC.
Penick's Analysis: I love the fight, would have loved to see this one get five rounds - especially over any Dennis Siver fight, even if he's being fed to McGregor - but I still love the matchup itself. It's one of those people have clamored for, and many called for it after Alvarez's fight with Cerrone. He's got a chance to bounce back in a big way, while Henderson can get back on track himself with a highly relevant win himself.
