Thales Leites looks to continue his climb back up the middleweight rankings in January, as he'll take on Tim Boetsch at UFC 183 in Las Vegas.
The UFC announced the bout on Wednesday, which will likely take place on the main card.
Leites has had a resurgent run in his second UFC stint, erasing some of the memories of his dull exit in 2009 with four very good wins in a row. That includes knockout wins over Trevor Smith and Francis Carmont in his last two fights, moving him into the UFC's official top 15 rankings.
As for Boetsch, he's had a rocky two year stretch after posting four straight wins in the UFC over 2011 and 2012. He's gone 2-3 since then with two stoppage losses, but he got back in the win column in his last fight with a TKO win over Brad Tavares in front of a home crowd in Maine that earned him a "Performance of the Night" bonus.
UFC 183 takes place on January 31 on the eve of the NFL's Super Bowl, headlined by the middleweight bout between Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz.
