Before his loss to Jon Jones in April, Glover Teixeira had gone nine years without a loss. On This time around, he didn't last nine months.
Phil Davis handed Teixeira his second straight decision loss on Saturday night, controlling him with his wrestling in a dull fight in the co-main event at UFC 179.
In addition to the takedowns throughout the 15-minute fight, Davis delivered more strikes offensively by a wide margin, and simply made Teixeira reactive in a fight that increasingly got away from the Brazilian.
Teixeira has now lost two straight for the first time ever, while Davis picks up a major win to bounce back from the loss to Anthony Johnson from earlier this year.
