"She has to work her way through the system; we've got her in a tough fight. She's obviously extremely talented in the stand-up game, but is she well rounded enough to get into a position to challenge for a title? [Pennington] has good stand-up and an underrated ground game. It's going to be interesting to see if this fight remains standing. My gut tells me we'll want her to have a couple, three fights to have her work her way through the division. If she's successful, depending on how she looks in those fights, we'll make the best fight that makes the most sense at the time. She has to get at least a couple wins."
-UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta explains in an interview with the LA Times why Holly Holm may have a bit of a wait before getting a shot at the UFC Women's Bantamweight Title.
Penick's Analysis: There's nothing wrong with the UFC bringing Holm along on a slower pace, setting her up with an opportunity to both introduce herself and then prove she belongs in the title picture. Of course, there aren't a ton of options past Cat Zingano, so I could also see this going out the window and Holm getting the next shot at the title in the summer of next year. It's really going to depend on what we see out of the other fighters in this division over the next six months.
