Mike Goldberg's Fox NFL debut went.... poorly, and his response to criticism in the wake of the event has been, well, very much indicative of what we've seen out of those in the UFC on a frequent basis.
Goldberg made several errors during the Vikings-Lions broadcast, perhaps the most egregious of which was a failed Teddy Bridgewater pass to Greg Jennings that he mistakenly said was intended for Lions receiver Golden Tate. But it was his response to comments on Twitter that has brought further negative attention on him by outlets outside of the MMA media.
Now, he's since deleted the tweets, but Goldberg sent the following to some viewers who were vocal against the job he did on Sunday (screenshots by Business Insider via BloodyElbow.com):
Penick's Analysis: Obviously those in the MMA world are used to seeing responses like this to criticism of any kind, and Goldberg has responded in the past in similar fashion to critics of his MMA work. But it was not just MMA fans sending comments regarding Sunday's game. Will Fox respond any differently to this than they have to similar instances in the UFC? Perhaps, if there's any pressure from the NFL over someone who was featured on their broadcast. This brings negativity from many sides, and the NFL has less tolerance or sense of humor regarding this type of thing.
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
