Four fighters could be out of action up to six months after Saturday's UFC 178 event in Las Vegas. Tim Kennedy, Cat Zingano, Stephen Thompson, and Jon Tuck all suffered injuries that must be cleared by doctors, or they'll be out of action until March 27, 2015.
The Nevada Athletic Commission emailed the list of suspensions to MMATorch on Monday.
Kennedy suffered an "inferior blowout fracture" in the left orbital in his bout against Yoel Romero, coming after the controversial round delay into the third frame that led into his TKO loss. Zingano suffered a back injury, which she'll need cleared or a bout with Ronda Rousey could be delayed.
Thompson suffered a potential eye injury, and must get a potentially broken hand x-rayed and cleared, while Tuck needs his right shoulder and right foot cleared.
The full list of suspensions is below:
Eddie Alvarez: suspended until Nov. 12 with no contact until Oct. 28
Dustin Poirier: suspended until Nov. 12 with no contact until Oct. 28
Yoel Romero: suspended until Nov. 12 with no contact until Oct. 28
Tim Kennedy: minimum suspension until Nov. 12 with no contact until Oct. 28; must also clear left orbital inferior blowout fracture with opthalmologist or plastic surgeon or no contest until March 27, 2015
Cat Zingano: must have upper back cleared by a doctor or no contest until March 27, 2015
Amanda Nunes: suspended until Nov. 12 with no contact until Oct. 28 for left eyebrow laceration
Takeya Mizugaki: suspended until Nov. 27 with no contact until Nov. 12
James Krause: suspended until Oct. 28 with no contact until Oct. 19
Stephen Thompson: must have right eye cleared by an opthalmologist and right hand X-rayed and cleared by an orthopedic doctor or no contest until March 27, 2015
Jon Tuck: must have right shoulder and right foot cleared by a doctor or no contest until March 27, 2015
Cody Gibson: suspended until Oct. 28 with no contact until Oct. 19
