Anderson Silva is back to being Anderson Silva, messing with media on the status of his fighting future.
As he's done on numerous occasions over the last several years, Silva gave some very conflicting comments about his title aspirations than he did earlier in the month.
"Look, besides returning well in 2015, my project in the UFC is only one: I won't stop [fighting] until I get my title back," Silva said in an interview with Veja in Brazil (translated by MMAFighting.com). "I want to at least try."
That's in conflict with what he said earlier in September, where he stated that he was done trying to be Champion. So which is it? We'll find out with his actions after his fight with Nick Diaz at UFC 183.
Penick's Analysis: It's just a running joke at this point. Any comment made by Silva on his future should be taken with a healthy heaping of salt at this point, and whether he has an interest in being Champion again or not, we'll see him fight at least one more time, and that's all we know for sure. It's also entirely possible that these answers come from him being in a different mindset at each time he's asked the question. Perhaps he can't make up his mind, so he says whatever he's feeling on the subject at that point in time. It's probably more likely he does it intentionally given how long it's been going on, but all that really matters right now is that we'll see him against Nick Diaz in January.
