It's been a long, hard year for Cat Zingano, and though it took a round for her to get going, the number one contender to Ronda Rousey's throne continued the theme of triumphant comebacks.
The first round was a wild one that saw Nunes dominate early despite a pretty tight armbar attempt by Zingano. Nunes pounded Zingano for most of the round, landing big punch after big punch to her prone opponent. A misguided omoplata attempt ended with Zingano in top position, though, which was where she ended the round. The second round was all Zingano as she was able to get Nunes to the ground and work top position for almost the whole five minutes. The tide remained in Zingano's favor for the third round as Zingano continued to pour it on. She began landing elbows shortly after the round started, and that was the beginning fo the end. The first one opened Nunes up, and it didn't take long for Herzog to stop the fight after that.
