"I've been fighting sort of under the radar for 10 or 11 years. I want to continue this same success I've had in front of millions of people... It's an uphill battle not being able to get your hands on the certain guys you need to get your hands on. It's a losing battle. I wanted in my future to have the opportunity to get these guys in front of me... The only feeling I'll have is joy. I'm here and I'm able to compete at a high level and have that many eyes on me. I'm just glad that I'm finally here."
-Eddie Alvarez talks to FoxSports.com about getting a chance to fight on the biggest stage in the UFC.
Penick's Analysis: Alvarez chose to stay out of the UFC on a couple of occasions, when he went to Japan and then when he signed with Bellator, and so he hasn't gotten a chance to become the No. 1 fighter in the division. That was on him for quite some time, but now he's got that opportunity, and if he beats Cerrone tonight that will likely sit as the biggest win of his career. It's a big spot for him, and a massively impressive performance likely puts him into title contention, so he'll get his opportunity.
