Anthony "Rumble" Johnson was suspended indefinitely on Friday afternoon by the UFC after a new allegation of domestic assault came to light. Johnson has not been charged with any crime as of yet, and for his part is denying the allegations made by the mother of two of his children that he and friends are harassing her with text messages, as well as the accusation that he knocked out two of her teeth in 2012.
Johnson posted a comment on Facebook simply calling the allegations out as lies, without addressing anything specific.
"The shit [people] will say and the lengths [people] will go just to tell a fucking lie is ridiculous," he wrote. "That's all I'm going to say and thank you all for the support and positive feedback that I'm getting."
Johnson was in line for a No. 1 contender fight in the new year with Alexander Gustafsson, but unless these allegations get cleared up in short order, it appears he'll be missing out on that opportunity.
Penick's Analysis: The problem Johnson finds himself in is a past history of these issues. The UFC had to make the move they did given the increased scrutiny and heat coming to these types of cases, and if there's any validity to the claims made by the woman in question, Johnson's time in the UFC could be over. He's claiming it's her telling lies, but the things he's already got in his own past on this front make it a lot easier to believe she's telling the truth.
