Mark Hunt wants to keep moving up the ladder in the heavyweight division after his win over Roy Nelson today in Japan, but he'd also like to make a quick return to fight in Sydney, Australia, on Nov. 8.
Therein lies the dilemma.
Hunt said Saturday that he's not all that interested in fighting anyone out of the top 10, as he sees it as a step backward. However, because he wants to fight on that Sydney card, he's open to any fight the UFC could give him.
"I want to move forward," Hunt said (via MMAJunkie.com). "I want to move up into the rankings. I want to get a title shot. My purpose is to fight for a title. Fighting someone outside of the top 10, it makes me go backwards.
"But hey, of course I would consider fighting someone outside of the top 10 if it was in Sydney. What's up, boss?"
Penick's Analysis: Given he just headlined this event, I don't think the UFC is likely to get him onto that card in a non-headlining slot. They're more likely to try to get him on the Fox card in Phoenix given the heavyweight theme running with that one right now, or wait until a higher end opponent becomes available for him.
