"It's funny, there's a little tag team. For those diehard MMA fans, there was an event in San Jose recently. Luke Rockhold and another San Jose native, Cung Le, were both up on the stage, giving a little back-and-forth, a little tag team, a little circus act looking like a pair of douchebags, saying, 'oh yeah, you're going to beat him, I'm going to beat him, you're going to beat him. Ooh, let's all beat him!' But 50% of that duo, Cung Le, that ended with him having three broken ribs, a broken jaw, a broken nose. I don't know if Cung Le's checked out of the hospital yet? But if he has? Or when he does? Maybe go and see him, and talk about those pitter-patter punches."
-During a press conference for the UFC Fight Night event coming to Sydney in November, Michael Bisping tells Luke Rockhold what he thinks about the criticism of his punching power (transcribed by BloodyElbow.com).
Penick's Analysis: Bisping accumulated a lot of damage on Le through the course of their fight last month. However, given a very minimal amount of stoppage wins through the course of his UFC career, the reputation he'd garnered of having less than massive power isn't an unfair one. Of course, if Rockhold doesn't take him seriously on that front, there's also the chance he winds up leaving himself open to a lot of damage over the course of the fight.
