UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson puts his title on the line later this month at UFC 178 in Las Vegas when he takes on Chris Cariaso.
With that fight happening in Nevada, both fighters were randomly drug tested by the Nevada Athletic Commission this past week, according to Wedesday's UFC Tonight program on Fox Sports 1.
It's a continuation of the efforts from the commission to implement surprise drug testing during training camps for the bigger fights in their jurisdiction. The UFC has said they're working on getting third party testing done for their entire roster going forward, but for now it's the NAC who have been increasing their random testing in 2014.
Penick's Analysis: I don't expect either fighter in this particular fight to pop for anything, but it's good that the NAC is continuing to test for now. It's still not enough, but they're going in the right direction. Hopefully both pass their tests and that UFC 178 card doesn't lose any more fights; that said, though it's the headliner, it might be the least anticipated of the fights on the main card.
