A mostly action-packed UFC Fight Night 47 main card gave the UFC a bunch of options for bonus money on Saturday. Ultimately, the $50,000 awards were handed out to Tim Boetsch, Thiago Tavares, Alan Jouban, and Seth Baczynski.
Boetsch made a great night for himself even better by scoring one of the two "Performance of the Night" awards. In front of a home crowd in Maine, Boetsch pulled off an improbably comeback against Brad Tavares, scoring a TKO win when he was minutes away from going down two rounds to none.
Joining him with the "PotN" award was Thiago Tavares, who had a highly impressive featherweight debut win over Robbie Peralta. He didn't seem to have lost any power dropping down to 145 lbs., and he manhandled Peralta for several minutes before locking on the fight ending rear naked choke.
As for Jouban and Baczynski, their wild one round fight earned them "Fight of the Night" honors. Jouban, in his UFC debut, scored a knockout win over Baczynski, but it wasn't without a few harrowing moments for him, as he got rocked on a couple of occasions, only to fire back and score a late first round KO. It was an excellent performance in his UFC debut in a really fun fight.
