Alexander Gustafsson has gotten in on the fun at Jon Jones' expense, taking credit for causing the cut that he simply believes was re-opened for Jones in training this week. Here's what he posted on Instagram:
Gustafsson was pulled from the fight with Jones at UFC 178 because of a knee injury, but hopes to be healed up soon enough in order to fight the winner by early 2015.
Penick's Analysis: It's not clear if this is the same spot or not that Jones was cut open against Gustafsson. He posted two quick videos, and one of them was inverted, because the cut switched eyes from one video to the next. Regardless, Gustafsson will take his opportunity to get a shot in, and he's keeping his name in the mix while Cormier steps into his title fight.
