Seeing how Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier have been levying comments at one another via social media, Gilbert Melendez and Anthony Pettis have begun following suit.
It began with Melendez posting a picture of the UFC Title on Instagram and vowing to take that belt from Pettis on December 6.
Pettis responded back on Twitter, and it seems this is just getting started.
@GilbertMelendez u won't make it out the 1st round!!! Your not even the number 1 contender Henderson is.
The two will clash at UFC 181 this December following a coaching stint on The Ultimate Fighter 20.
Penick's Analysis: This is sure to pick up over the next few months. Melendez feels confident in himself, and he's been rewarded with a major contract in part because of that, given he'd only fought twice in the UFC. As for Pettis, he's been doing things most fighters just don't given his stoppages over Henderson and Donald Cerrone, and if he does the same to Melendez, it will be a huge statement to everyone in the UFC.
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
