During Saturday's UFC on Fox 12 main event, there was a moment midway through the fight where Lawler caught Brown with a kick across the belt line that caused Brown to react as if it were a groin shot.
Referee "Big" John McCarthy briefly halted the action, while the replay showed the legality of the blow. That led some online to argue that Brown faked like it was a groin shot to avoid the follow up, and Brown himself lashed out against that idea on Facebook after the fight.
"First off thanks to #theimmortalarmy for your constant support.
Second off I've read some things saying that said I faked the nut shot," he wrote. "I would never do that in my fucking life. That's bullshit. Period. End of story."
For his part, McCarthy addressed the incident on Twitter, explaining his reasoning for giving Brown a moment to recover.
For information, the kick thrown by Robbie was legal, his shin moved Matt Browns cup, you could hear it, that's why Matt was given a moment

Penick's Analysis: Ultimately, Lawler won the fight, but his attack getting halted off of what looked like a body strike kept him from perhaps following up. That said, it did seem like it caught the top of the cup, and the reaction could have easily been because of that. He didn't get a full five minutes to recover, but it might have been the right call to give him a moment if he saw the top of the cup hit.
