"[Alistair Overeem and Josh Barnett] are challenging me to promote themselves. I had two dates to fight Overeem. First, he was caught in a drug test and then got hurt. I think that he's saying this to give an answer to his fans. There is no sense of him talking about this now, he also has an opponent to face... [The UFC] will likely put me to fight against [Stipe] Miocic because it's a bout that they wanted. I truly believe that he'll be my next opponent. I think that it's a good idea. It would be nice to everyone watch. Two good heavyweights, good boxers to punch each other. I think that the fans would enjoy it."
-Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos responds to both Alistair Overeem and Josh Barnett calling him out in a recent interview with Tatame.com in Brazil (translated by Fernando Arbex at BloodyElbow.com).
Penick's Analysis: Fight with Overeem and Barnett, at least from a name standpoint, are more interesting than dos Santos-Miocic. That said, a fight with Miocic could still be a solid fight in the cage, the hype just won't be as heavy for that matchup. Regardless, dos Santos just needs to get back in the cage after injury, as he and Cain Velasquez have both been out of action since their matchup last October.
