The fast overnight ratings are in for last night's UFC on Fox 12 event, with the show bringing in an average of 2.02 million viewers to Fox from 8-10PM ET, according to a breakdown from TV By The Numbers.
The average isn't as accurate as past fast overnights, as the report acknowledges they only had half hour breakdowns as opposed to quarterly. Additionally, west coast viewership and the half hour overrun from Saturday's show will be taken into account later this week.
As far as the quick numbers are concerned, it's among the lower end of Fox events. It's slightly above the fast overnights for April's UFC on Fox 11 event, while slightly below last the July event from last year. The mid-summer events have been amongst the weaker performers for the UFC on Fox, so that's no surprise.
Still, the broadcast helped Fox tie NBC with the top rating amongst persons 18-49 for that timeslot last night.
Penick's Analysis: This is probably no worse than anyone could have expected, and I honestly expect the west coast viewership and the overrun to dramatically boost this number. In the case of April's card, a very good overrun for the main event boosted it out of the lowest rated Fox event slot and up to 2.5 million viewers with a 3.3 million viewer peak. For last night's event, which took place in California and featured a fantastic main event that built and built throughout, I'd expect perhaps an even bigger peak and overall boost to the numbers. What I will be curious to see is whether or not this can get above the numbers garnered by Lawler's first network TV headlining slot, as that Elite XC show drew 2.6 million viewers to CBS.
