Fresh off his headlining win in front of a crazy hometown crowd in Ireland, Conor McGregor takes on his biggest challenge to date on Sept. 27.
The UFC announced on Tuesday that McGregor will take on the man who called him out, Dustin Poirier, at UFC 178, adding to a stacked pay-per-view card in Las Vegas.
The brash Irishman has now won three straight fights, adding to a very good career record as his popularity and infamy rise outside of the cage as well. He's garnered the attention of a lot of people, and by running down many of the top guys in the division has put a target on his back as well.
One such lobbying for a shot at him was Poirier, and he's now been given that fight in September. The 25-year-old has won three straight fights himself, and is 8-2 in ten UFC appearances thus far.
UFC 178 will be headlined by a Light Heavyweight Championship rematch between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson.
