The UFC is making a push to sign Gina Carano, and if it happens, it's going to come with a big time debut fight.
During a media scrum on Friday following the UFC Fight Night 45 weigh-ins, UFC President Dana White said he's meeting with Carano on Monday, and if she signs, she'll likely fight Ronda Rousey in December.
A December fight for Carano against anyone would mark her first since August of 2009, where she was stopped by Cris Cyborg in what was at the time the first major MMA event to be headlined by a women's fight.
She flirted with a Strikeforce return a few years ago, but pulled out of the event due to undisclosed medical reasons.
As for Rousey, she'll be returning from a bit of a vacation after breaking her hand and getting her knees scoped this month in her latest title defense, where she knocked Alexis Davis out in just 16 seconds.
Penick's Analysis: Carano's never made 135 lbs. for a fight before, and hasn't fought in over five years by the time this goes down. I can understand from a business standpoint why the UFC would consider the fight, and Rousey has taken out a lot of the top competition already, but this is almost assuredly going to be another slaughter for the Champ. That's fine, and if Carano lasts more than 16 seconds she'll have done more than Davis did, but this is still not a fight that does much for too many.
