By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief The winner of next month's Light Heavyweight Title bout between Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans may not get much time off between fights, barring injury, as a report from the U.K. based Fighter's Only states that Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will be looking to get his Title fight at UFC 102 or 103. According to the report, Rampage has already been "penciled in" for a shot at one of the two events, with the suggestion that 103 could be a U.K. event.
Machida and Evans face off on May 23rd at UFC 98 in Las Vegas, and for the victor the turnaround time for that next fight would be around three months. UFC 102 is believed to be headed our way on August 29th, possibly from Portland, OR, with a headlining bout between Randy Couture and Antonio "Minotauro" Nogueira.
Penick's Analysis: Whether it's Rashad retaining or Lyoto capturing the Light Heavyweight Title next month at UFC 98, a September headlining bout with Rampage in the U.K. would make an extreme amount of sense. As long as the victor is able to recover in time to train for that date it would add yet another Title fight on the docket for the UFC to close out the summer. If they should choose to put it in the U.K., it could be one of the biggest main events they've put on overseas, depending on just who comes away the Champion next month. Either way, a return for Rampage is welcome as long as he's keeping himself in line outside of the cage and staying serious inside of it.
