Dennis Siver had his hearing with the Nevada Athletic Commission on Thursday, with the commission hearing his side of the story regarding his positive drug test for hCG out of UFC 168.
Siver attempted to blame a trainer for giving him the substance, after previously admitting to using it as a supplement for weight loss. The commission wasn't swayed, and on Thursday handed down a nine month suspension and a fine of 30% of his UFC 168 fight purse, which amounted to $19,800.
Further, Siver's win over Manny Gamburyan on the UFC 168 card has been officially overturned to a no contest.
According to a report from MMAJunkie.com, commission members didn't believe much of Siver's story, and cited his failure to disclose taking the substance in the first place as further support of their decision.
Penick's Analysis: Siver's just got to take his punishment and try to come back from there. His story was never one that was going to hold much sway with the commission, and he certainly wasn't going to avoid a suspension or the result getting overturned. Still, the hearing's behind him, he's got his punishment, and he needs to try to move forward now.
