With the Daniel Cormier vs. Dan Henderson bout officially announced for UFC 173, the other light heavyweight bout that was reported late last month is also official, as Ryan Bader will meet Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante at UFC 174.
The two fighters had been earmarked as potential opponents for Cormier and Henderson prior to that bout coming together, and the UFC confirmed on Wednesday that their previously reported bout will indeed happen in Vancouver.
Bader returns to action for the first time since December, where he broke his hand badly while beating up Anthony Perosh in Australia. "Feijao", the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champ, looks to win his second straight fight after forcing Igor Pokrajac to submit to punches back in November.
UFC 174 airs live on pay-per-view on June 14, headlined by a Flyweight Championship bout between Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson and Ali Bagautinov.
Penick's Analysis: This remains a really solid matchup in the division, with both fighters needing to reestablish themselves with winning streaks. Both have been near the top of the field at 205 lbs, only to suffer a setback or two, so this is a competitive fight which keeps the winner in place as a top 10-15 guy, with a chance to move up further from there.
