Miesha Tate secured her first UFC win on Saturday night at UFC on Fox 11, taking a unanimous decision over Liz Carmouche in a fairly close fight.
Carmouche started in control of the fight, securing takedowns in the first and second rounds and generally dictating the pace of the bout. There wasn't a ton going on offensively, but Carmouche did enough to win at least the first round.
The second was more in question, as Tate had some success on the feet, and had a good submission attempt late in the round. She parlayed that momentum with a dominant third frame, where she got Carmouche down early, got her back, and challenged for submissions throughout.
Ultimately, all three judges gave Tate the second round, thus giving her the decision after she secured the most dominant round of the three. She halts a two-fight UFC losing streak, while Carmouche has now lost three of her four fights in the Octagon.
