On tonight's new episode of "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3" on UFC Fight Pass, the reported brawl between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva - along with one of Silva's assistant coaches - will air.
Sonnen spoke about the incident in a new interview with MMAFighting.com, citing a number of ways in which the incident was unnecessary and ridiculous.
"It ended up being a two-on-one, and in that aspect, that was the most unfortunate part. The whole thing is regrettable. It never should have happened," Sonnen said. "That's one of the deals with reality TV. If you have a bad moment, you're caught. Everyone may have a bad moment. They go in their car, you yell, turn on the radio in you car and yell. In reality TV, if you have a bad moment, you're busted."
"And then what happened was the other knucklehead jumped in, that was a crime. That's what it was. That was straight up illegal."
"I had to explain to him, 'I'm the bad guy, you're supposed to be the good guy.' But when you attempt to jump me, that's going to turn the people against you and for me, and I don't want to be the good guy. I had to drop the fourth curtain and explain this to him, and it didn't register."
PENICK'S ANALYSIS: Silva's surprisingly made Sonnen the sympathetic character in this entire situation, considering the heat began due to the numerous comments Sonnen made about Brazil and Brazilian people. But Silva's come off poorly from the outset, and him and one of his assistant coaches getting into a two-on-one brawl with Sonnen on set is ridiculous. Add in the fight getting shuffled, Silva not signing on for an extended amount of time, and the fight moving once again after he supposedly did, and he's coming off as the worse of the two.
