Yet another fight has been booked for the UFC's April pay-per-view event in Baltimore, UFC 172, which is shaping up to be quite the buzz-worthy event.
The UFC announced Tuesday morning that Luke Rockhold will take on Tim Boetsch in middleweight action on the card, which heads to Baltimore on April 26.
Rockhold makes a much quicker turnaround than after his UFC debut, stepping in just a few months after scoring a vicious body kick KO over Costas Philippou at UFC Fight Night 35 last month. That bounced him back from a spinning head kick knockout loss to Vitor Belfort in his UFC debut last May.
Boetsch, who himself lost to Philippou before getting crushed by Mark Munoz last year, bounced back in October with a split decision win over C.B. Dollaway. The veteran fighter is now 6-3 in his second run in the UFC.
UFC 172 is headlined by a UFC Light Heavyweight Championship fight between Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira.
Penick's Analysis: I don't understand this fight. Rockhold's coming off a fantastic win against someone who holds a win over Boetsch. Meanwhile, Boetsch barely halted his losing streak in a split over Dollaway. It just seems to be a step back for Rockhold after the way he finished Philippou last month.
