By: Alex Williams, MMATorch Contributor In an interview with DreamFighters.com, Frank Shamrock states that after he fights Nick Diaz, he wants to fight Tito Ortiz and Cung Le (rumors indicate that Le is the more likely opponent). When asked about the possibility of facing Anderson Silva and returning to the UFC, Shamrock says that he would like to fight Silva and that he is "open to all things."
Williams' Analysis: This represents an ubrupt about-face for Shamrock. After leaving his job as a UFC color commentator shortly after Zuffa purchased the organization, Shamrock and Dana White engaged in a multi-year war of words. During these exchanges, Shamrock referred to White as "Uncle Fester" and stated that he would never fight for the UFC again. Whatever the reason for his change of mind, a bout between Shamrock and Silva would be interesting. It would have been more interested if a prime Shamrock was involved. Today's Shamrock has a chance because of his craftiness. But today's Shamrock is also an "old" 36 with bad knees. And even if Frank was a few years younger, it wouldn't change the fact that he'd give up a lot of size in such a bout: Silva walks around at 210 pounds, while Shamrock walks around at just 195 pounds.
