By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief After a highly impressive submission victory over Ultimate Fighter season six winner Mac Danzig at last weekend's Fight Night 17 event, Josh Neer has signed a new four fight deal with the UFC according to a report by MMAJunkie.com.
Neer now extends his third tour in the UFC, having gone lost his UFC debut in 2005 before fighting four times in 2006 for the organization, splitting those bouts. He's 2-1 in his three fights since coming back to the UFC, and he has gone 8-2 overall since his loss to Nick Diaz at UFC 62 in August of '06. This signing also comes just over a month after his arrest for driving under the influence on New Year's Eve in Iowa.
Penick's Analysis: Well, Neer screwed up when he got arrested, then he got his head back on straight to train and fight a great fight against Mac Danzig and he gets rewarded for it. Good for him. He's got a ways to go before he's anywhere near contention for a Title in the UFC, but he's surely shown them enough to prove he's worth giving a shot to climb that ladder. He'll be fun to watch if he keeps improving as he has in the last couple of years.
