UFC heavyweight Stefan Struve was diagnosed with a heart condition this year which was potentially career threatening, but things are a lot more positive as the year is coming to a close.
According to a report from MMAWeekly.com, Struve is back to regular training, and his condition is improving with medication.
"He is taking the supervised medication and is back to training," said Nima Safapour, a representative for Struve. "[There is] no return date yet, as they are still seeing how his body responds to the treatment. He is responding very well to the treatment so far."
Additionally, Struve himself hinted at a return to the cage soon in 2014 on Twitter.
Penick's Analysis: That's great news. Struve is still so young that it would have been a real shame to have his career cut short on something outside of fighting like that. With the medication apparently doing what he needs, he's getting himself back on track, and it will be good to see him back in the cage early next year.
