...OH, ONE MORE THING - PLEASE BOOKMARK US & VISIT DAILY!
By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief Jason MacDonald, one of the UFC's resident Canadian fighters, will be returning to action in his home country at UFC 97 on April 18th in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He announced in a blog at SportsNet.ca that he has signed a contract for the event. He said he would wait to announce his opponent, but if the UFC doesn't make the announcement he will do so next week. He's coming off a loss to Wilson Gouveia and will be looking to get back into the win column in Canada.
His blog touches on the UFC Primetime special, as well as him giving his predictions on this weekend's events, including Fedor vs. Arlovski where he said, "I'm going to go out on a limb and say Arlovski beats Fedor and I'm not just doing the reverse psychology thing. I say by knockout and we'll see if Roach is the magic man." Bold prediction.
UFC 97 is set to air live on pay-per-view from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on April 18th.
Penick's Analysis: MacDonald's been on a quite a run of fights in a short amount of time. He always comes to perform at his best but unfortunately for him two of his last three fights, which were losses, came against two of the top up and coming middleweights in the UFC in Demian Maia and Wilson Gouveia. He's still got a lot left in the tank, however, and he'll look to get back to his winning ways in April. He's always fun to watch, so it's a great addition and he'll get a great reaction out of the hometown crowd.
