A year and a half after they were originally scheduled to face off, featherweights Erik Koch and Dustin Poirier are expected to face off at UFC 164 in Milwaukee this August, according to BleacherReport.com's Damon Martin on Twitter.
Looks like Erik Koch vs. Dustin Poirier being targeted for UFC 164 in Milwaukee.Like Mendes vs. Guida, not a done deal but close #UFC
The two were supposed to face off last February at UFC 143 in Las Vegas, but Koch suffered an injury that took him out of the event. Poirier went on to defeat Max Holloway on the card.
Since then, Poirier's dropped two of three fights, losing to Chan Sung Jung and, most recently, Cub Swanson. Koch, meanwhile, finally returned from his lengthy injury layoff in January, where he was stopped by Ricardo Lamas.
The fight will take place in Koch's current home town, as he trains out of Milwaukee at Roufusport. The event is set to take place on Aug. 31 in conjunction with the 110th anniversary of Harley Davidson.
