The UFC has decided to shift a big heavyweight fight between Alistair Overeem and Travis Browne to free TV, as MMAJunkie.com reports that the fight has been moved from UFC 164 in Milwaukee to the UFC's Fox Sports 1 debut on August 17 in Boston.
Overeem is returning to action for the first time since his knockout loss to Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva in February. He was supposed to return this Saturday against Junior dos Santos, but an injury pushed him off the card.
He'll take on Browne, who himself was knocked out by Silva last fall in his only UFC loss. He rebounded last month at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale, knocking out Gabriel Gonzaga with a series of elbows against the cage.
Per the report, the fight will not be the headliner of the Boston event, citing UFC President Dana White, so a bigger fight is still yet to be announced for the first-ever UFC event on the brand new sports network.
Penick's Analysis: This remains a sensible fight, but it's surprising that Overeem's being shifted off of pay-per-view, because it seemed a likely co-headliner for the UFC 164 event. Still, as the second or third from the top on this FS1 card, it's likely going to be a really strong free TV event, and that's what they're going for. This booking definitely plays into that.
